Welcome to Lionscourt Leonbergers
We have always had a house full of pets, ranging from big friendly dogs to many foundling cats. In the fall of 1996 we met our first Leonberger in the flesh. Before this we had only ever seen and admired them from afar. This was Manorguard Anchorman, "Simba" to his friends, who came from the Manorguard A litter, bred by John Feehan in North London. We instantly fell for this enchanting lion of a dog and soon decided that we had to have a Leo of our very own. After a bit of checking around, we discovered that Simba’s sister, Manorguard Amy, had recently had a litter. A quick phone call later and we learned that there was still a chance to invite one into our lives. Manorguard Joanna, "Joji", joined us in February 1997. As with so many Leonberger owners, it was love at first sight, and we have never looked back.
Our home is an old farm set in 2 ½ acres of lovely Gloucestershire countryside surrounded by wonderful country walks. We now live with five Leos; “Rufus”, Lionscourt Arcturus who was born in 2003, and “Ellie”, Altonastigens Esmeralda, who came to us from Ingela Farnestam & Lasse Johansson’s Altonastigens kennel in Sweden. We had our second litter in July of 2006 and from this we have kept a little girl, Lionscourt Belisana, who we call “Bella”. She has matured into an impressive bitch and has now become the queen of our group. In May of 2011 our “D” litter arrived and staying with us is a lovely chunky girl named Lionscourt Danubia who we call “Ruby”. We have now also welcomed another import into our family. Her name is Sommarblomma and she also comes from the Altonastigens kennel in Sweden, just like her great aunt Ellie. “Sommar”is a very pretty girl and she and “Nubi-Ruby” have become fast friends.
